There are 3 options for changing a product image, depending on how the products were added and/or imported in the webshop.
Option 1: Products from connected/loaded suppliers
Option 2: Products you've added manually yourself via the CMS
Option 3: Products imported into your shop via PromoCat's Excel format
All options are explained below.
1. Products from connected/loaded suppliers
This concerns products from suppliers connected to PromoCat. So it does not concern a list of products you've supplied via PromoCat's product format for importing your own items.
Step 1: To change a product image from a connected supplier, first log in to your webshop's CMS.
Step 2: Then go to 'Webwinkel' (Webshop) and click 'Producten' (Products)
Step 3: Find the desired product and click 'Wijzigen' (Edit) next to the product whose image you want to change
Step 4: You're now on the product's editing page. Then scroll down until you reach the first variant of the product (some products may have only 1 variant, so you'll see just 1 appear).
Step 5: Click the variant whose image you want to change. If you want to change the images for all variants, you can simply start with the first variant.
Step 6: Within the variant, scroll down a bit until you reach the images. Now you can optionally remove images you no longer want visible, or add images by clicking 'Bestanden kiezen' (Choose files) and adding an image from your computer.
PLEASE NOTE! Only files with the extension .png, .jpg and .gif are allowed. Also make sure there are no spaces in the image file name. If there are, the image will not be shown.
Step 7: Once you've added the desired image via 'Bestanden selecteren' (Select files), the system starts uploading the image. Once the image has been successfully added, it appears first in the series of product images, and you can optionally adjust the order in which the images are shown.
Step 8: Finally, at the bottom of the edited product variant, click 'Variant opslaan' (Save variant) to save the changes.
PLEASE NOTE! It can sometimes take a little while before the image is visible on the front end of the webshop.
2. Products you've added manually yourself via the CMS
This concerns products you've entered manually yourself via the CMS. So it does not concern a product from a supplier imported via our database, or a list of products you've supplied via PromoCat's product format for importing your own items.
Products you've added manually yourself can easily be found via the CMS.
Step 1: To change a product image of a product you've added manually, first log in to your webshop's CMS.
Step 2: Now go to the "Webwinkel" (Webshop) block and then, on the left, to "Producten" (Products)
Step 3: Then, under "Supplier", you can click the option "Eigen producten / geen leverancier" (Own products / no supplier) in the dropdown, which makes all manually added products visible.
From here you can now go through the same steps as with option 1 "Products from connected/loaded suppliers"
3. Products imported into your shop via PromoCat's Excel format
This concerns products imported via a list of products you've supplied via PromoCat's product format. For this, you supplied images to us at the time and entered them in the product list for the correct products in the column "Afbeelding 1" - "Afbeelding 2" etc.
If you want to change images of existing products, the image name of the new image must be different from the image that is currently there (see the product list you supplied to us at the time).
Suppose that for an existing product whose image you want to change, this image is entered in column "Afbeelding 1": "balpen-wit-voorkant.png"
Then a different name must now be entered here, which of course must again match the file name of the actual image.
It's best to give the new image a completely different name or simply put "-nieuw" in between.
Then this looks as follows: "balpen-wit-voorkant-nieuw.png".
You then also give the actual image the name "balpen-wit-voorkant-nieuw.png" so that they can be matched again during import.
If you want to add extra new images to a product that weren't there before, you can simply add them in the extra columns for the images.
You can then send the new images and the adjusted product list back to us so that we can import it for you. The images will then automatically become visible in the shop, provided the file names of the new image exactly match what has been entered in the product list.
It's therefore always important to check whether:
- The file name of the image that needs to be newly added has a different naming than the file name of the image currently in the list (if you want to replace existing images with new ones). If you do have a new image but keep the image name the same as the image already there, the system will not import this image because it sees no "difference".
- The file name in the product format in the columns "Afbeelding 1" - "Afbeelding 2" etc. exactly matches the actual image you send us. So if the image is called "balpen-wit-voorkant-nieuw.png", this must also be entered exactly like that in the product format. Including the extension .png or .jpg - depending on the file.
- There are no typos. Think of differences in uppercase, lowercase, spaces, hyphens, missing extensions (such as .png or .jpg) etc. that may differ in the actual image file name vs. the noted image name in the columns of the product format.
