Step 1 - Determining the size of the banner/slider
To adjust the banner/slider correctly, you first need to know the correct dimensions of your banner/slider.
To find this out, proceed as follows:
- First hover your mouse over the banner/slider
- Then right-click the banner/slider and select the "Inspecteren" (Inspect) option
A bar with code now opens:
- Now look for "bx-viewport". You'll see this if you scroll up a bit further.
- Then click it
- You'll now see the banner turn blue, and the size of the banner appears above it.
You'll now see that the banner we have is 940 x 550 pixels. This is therefore the size we'll be working with.
Step 2 - Uploading a new banner
Now that you know the banner's dimensions, you can upload the new banner. This is how you do it:
- Once you're logged in to the CMS, go to "Paginabeheer" (Page management) and then click "Uitgelicht" (Featured) on the left
When the webshop is delivered, a default banner is always placed on the homepage, which is always called "Home". You can edit this or create a new one (which you can link later).
There is then a slide/banner here that you can edit by clicking "Wijzigen" (Edit) next to the slide.
- Here you can then swap the slider image for another by first removing the current image (click "Verwijder afbeelding" (Remove image)).
- Now you can add the new image via the "Bestanden kiezen" (Choose files) button.
Please note! The image must be a .jpg, .png or .gif file, and there must be no spaces in the image name, otherwise the image cannot be uploaded.
- You can then also have the banner/slider redirect to a product category or an external link. You can set this in the "Verwijst naar" (Refers to) dropdown.
- If you chose "Externe link" (External link), a new input field with "Url" appears where you can paste the URL the banner/slider should point to.
- Finally, click "Opslaan en terug" (Save and return) and the new banner/slider is visible on the front end.
Step 4 - I've created a new banner and want to link it.
If you chose to create a new slideshow, you can link it as follows:
- Go to "Paginabeheer" (Page management), "Layout bewerken" (Edit layout) and then "Direct naar layoutbewerking" (Go directly to layout editor).
You'll then enter the website's layout editor; here we only adjust the linked banner. You do this as follows:
- Hover your mouse over the banner
- In the pop-up that appears, click the little pencil.
A pop-up now appears.
- Go to the "Standaard" (Default) tab
- Here, change "Slider om weer te geven" (Slider to display) to the slider you created.
- After making a choice, click "Opslaan" (Save)
- Then publish the adjusted layout; this way the new slider becomes visible to customers.
