What do you use the menus for in page management?
The menus within page management are extremely helpful. The menus differ based on the chosen template/design you are working with. Important things you can often change here include:
- Main menu (The categories highlighted in the webshop menu bar)
- Themes (The themes highlighted on the webshop)
- Footer columns (For example, contact details, information headings, and linked text pages)
- Other components that fall under your template/design
Note!
Within the menu structure of 'page management', you do not change your category layout. Here you only add the categories to the main menu that you want to highlight on the front end, so that customers can navigate easily.
How does it work?
You can adjust the menus through page management. There are a range of possibilities.
- Go to "Page Management".
- Navigate to "Page Tree" via the left menu.
- Click "Create New Menu" at the top of the page.
- Enter a name in the pop-up and click "Save".
- Fill in all options on the screen and click "Save and Return" at the bottom.
- Go to "Page Management".
- Navigate to "Page Tree" via the left menu.
- Locate the menu item you want to edit and click "Edit".
- Edit or fill in the required fields and click "Save and Return" at the bottom.
- Go to "Page Management".
- Navigate to "Page Tree" via the left menu.
- Navigate to the structure for which you want to change the order. Use the arrows to modify the order within the structure.
What menu options are available?
When creating or editing menu items, there are several options available.
If you want to create a new structure within 'page tree', it is not necessary to choose a parent menu. This option is used to add sub-menus under another menu.
It is possible to set the following redirections.
Product category
Redirect the menu item to an existing category.
Text page
Redirect the menu item to an existing text page. You can select from all text pages within "Page Management > Text Pages".
External link
Redirect the menu item to an external URL. You can define the external URL yourself.
Language
Do you have a multilingual environment? Then you can indicate whether the menu should refer to another language. This is useful if you want to switch languages.
Other
Redirect the menu item to an existing static page. This can be the shopping cart, homepage, or another page.
If you have set a redirection, you can indicate how the action should respond when clicking. You can specify whether the current page redirects to the other URL when clicked, or if a new tab should be opened.
Tip!
A 'new tab' is used when it comes to an external webpage. This is intended so that visitors do not leave your webshop.
It is possible to upload an image. Not every menu item has this option. This depends on how the design is set up.
For uploading an image, the webshop supports PNG, JPG, or GIF formats.
